Dear Parents -- You continue to serve as your young professional's biggest cheerleader, supporter, friend, "investor", life counselor, caregiver, and so much more (including yeah, the often 'I'll-take-care-of-that-for-you' task master! Come on, we secretly enjoy that!). My wife (Neeta) and I can relate as our son (Kian) recently graduated from Claremont McKenna College. He is entering the Finance profession workforce in late Summer 2025 via a return offer from prior internship.
You have all these amazing support roles and perhaps also have some knowledge of job searching as a professional in your own pursuits. Yet in career guidance and the job search process (err, 'madness!') you and your young adult(s) often can benefit from an objective and trained partner being side-by-side with you on their professional journey.
At our colleges/universities, as parents we often have invested $XXX,000 in our young adults for career/life success, and I augment and amplify what the Career Services Staff and Professors/Faculty do. I can usually go deeper than college Career Services -- mainly because:
--> In the external workplace as prior CEO, COO, President at small, medium, and large companies, I have
interviewed, hired, and guided hundreds upon hundreds of professionals across multiple functions. I have made hiring-decisions across thousands and thousands of cover letters, resumes, and LinkedIn profiles.
--> Further, in the workplace I have led and mentored indiivudals from interns to senior executives;
hence gaining unique expertise on career paths, career progressions (and setbacks), and transitions.
--> I have been trained & certified at Right Management, Inc. [largest outplacment career services firm] and serve as one of their active Career Mgt. Consultants.
--> Importantly, I myself have been in several job, functional, and industry transitions. During which I too get ghosted or rejected in interviews. I understand and directly empathize with my student clients.
In short: I augment college career services.
